How to stay signed in to Sketchup desktop

For SketchUp Desktop (2021+ subscription versions), you generally do not need to sign in every time you open SketchUp.

  • Once you sign in with your Trimble ID, SketchUp will normally keep you signed in between sessions unless you manually sign out.
  • To help maintain your login, make sure"Remember me" is selected when signing in.
  • SketchUp still needs to connect to Trimble's servers periodically to validate your subscription. If the computer remains offline for too long, you may be signed out. SketchUp needs to be online at least once every 28 days to re-authorize your subscription.

If SketchUp keeps asking you to sign in

Common causes include:

  1. The PC has not connected to the internet for an extended period.
  2. Your browser is blocking the sign-in process or clearing cookies.
  3. Security software or company policies are clearing authentication tokens when you log off Windows.
  4. You're using multiple Trimble accounts and SketchUp is switching accounts

How to stay signed in

  1. Sign in with your Trimble ID.
  2. Tick Remember me on the Trimble sign-in page.
  3. Don't manually click Sign Out inside SketchUp.
  4. Make sure the computer gets online at least once every few weeks (within the 28-day authorization window).
  5. If your organization manages the PC, check whether browser cookies or credentials are being cleared at logoff.
